Alias Request for New Research Donations Account
Criteria for Software Donations for Research Purposes

The goal of the Research donation program is to first, catalyze experimentation and research in computer graphics, human computer interaction, and compelling digital visual experiences. The second goal is to promote Alias software as the defacto standard for this type of activity. Ultimately we want the developments produced by the research donations program to benefit the scientific community and evolve the industry as a whole, and as a side effect, improve Alias software or the environment surrounding Alias software.

Alias makes no specific requests with regards to the research performed with the software except we encourage publication of research results in high quality peer reviewed research venues and applicants are willing, from time to time, to report on the results of their research to Alias and publicly acknowledge Alias' support of their research.

This donation program does not include "for profit" research ventures. This disallows for-profit research by a private company or individuals who should apply to the Alias Conductors program at www.alias.com/conductors.

Research Donations are strictly for research purposes only. This donation program does not include general educational use. Only education in support of research, for example, to educate graduate students for using Maya to help implement their research projects.

If you are teaching a course in which you would like to use Maya or Studio, there are significant educational discounts. We sell a number of Learning Tools and DVDs for teaching about Alias software and these products are also discounted for educational facilities. Details on educational products and discounts can be found at www.alias.com/education.

Finally, free donation software is not supported. Problems can be reported within this web site but we cannot always provide assistance with these issues.
